About the Author

Josef Janča, PhD, DSc, is Professor of Physical and Analytical Chemistry at the Universite La Rochelle, La Rochelle, France. He was previously Visiting Professor at Universitierre et Marie Curie, Paris, and before then, Director of the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Brno, Czechoslovakia, and head of the Laboratory on Polymer Analysis at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague. The author of more than 150 original papers and 15 books or book chapter, and the holder of 5 patents, Dr. Janča serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Polymer Analysis and Characterization and Associate Editor of Encyclopedia of Separation Sciences and Encyclopedia of Analytical Chemistry. He also serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Liquid Chromatography & Related Technologies, Current Pharmaceutical Analysis, and Springer's Laboratory Manual Series in Polymer Science. Dr. Janča has twice received awards for achievements in separation methods for polymer analysis from Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. In 2000, he was named a fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
