About the Author
August W. (Augie) Boehm played his first duplicate session at
age nine, sitting on a phone book because he was small for his age. In 1961, at
the age of 14, he became the youngest player ever to win a national
championship. By then, he had played in many tournaments with bridge greats
Alfred Sheinwold, Egar Kaplan, and Tobias Stone. Today, his numerous successes
have placed him among the top ranks in the United States. The Bridge World
magazine calls him, "one of Ameica's premier players and professional
players." He writes the popular monthly column Boehm on Bridge for The
Bridge Bulletin and is a regular contributor to The Bridge World. He
serves on bdding panels for both publications. Augie teaches bridge in New York
City.
